Sarah, so brave!
I was so proud of Sarah today. She had her first blood test and didn’t cry at all. While we were waiting I explained to her what was going to happen, so she even held out her arm to the phlebotomist. She was a little upset as the needle went in – “it hurts me! it hurts me!” – nearly brought me to tears… but I figured if she wasn’t crying then I had no business doing it.
Once she saw the blood come out though, she was fascinated. There was a lot to be fascinated about too, sadly. They took enough for at least a half a dozen vials! Once it was over, and the promised ‘Ice Age’ bandaid, sticker and flashy squishy toy thingy had been handed over, she was as cheerful as ever. Like it had never happened.
We headed over to Maccas for a well earned lunch date after that :)
