Two photos, taken 29 years apart. The kitchen has been updated but the menu and the view from the window remains the same. That’s me on the left in May 1980 and Becky on the right sitting on Mum and Dad’s kitchen bench eating bread.
It’s enough to make you dizzy just watching her, but here’s Sarah’s latest trick on the swing set…
Becky had her first ever ‘babychino’ last night – that’s a little cup of warm milk foam with a dusting of cocoa powder for the uninitiated ;) She thought she was pretty clever – and creative too. Turns out milk foam makes good finger paint too.
Last night we took the girls up to visit their Great Uncle Puty who’s been in hospital for a few days.
Given her personality I’ve always thought that Sarah will be more of a brass player than woodwind – and now I’m certain I was right. She picked up my trumpet on Monday night and was able to get a noise out almost on the first attempt! Click on the photo below to see a .mov (12mb) of her in action.
Another trumpet prodigy I’m keen to sign up is my friend’s son Cobey. He’s a few months younger (and a lot shorter :p Cobes is a tiny little man) than Sarah but is also a natural-born-trumpet-player.

I think their mutual love of matchbox cars has a bit to do with their talent. All those ‘brrrrrrrrm’ noises are a good foundation for playing brass instruments.
I was going to say that I’ll sign them both up for band when they can see over a music stand… but being able to see David conducting isn’t neccessarily a requirement. It’s not like the rest of us watch him much anyway ;)
Tada! Doesn’t it look great? I think Daddy and Grandad did a wonderful construction job and the girls are both really, really, REALLY excited about their new room :) Click on the picture below to see some photos of the cubbyhouse being built, from the foundations to the roof.
The foundations have been laid :) Sarah and Becky’s new cubby house is being built today.
