A Swimming Star is Born!
Today was Sarah’s first ever trip to the swimming pool! Knowing how much she loves to kick in a deep bath, I had been looking forward to this all week! Sarah and I had even gone shopping on Wednesday to buy her a pair of swimming togs. We picked out a bright, bright pink suit – nice and colourful so she could be easily spotted, lots of material to grab a hold of if she wriggled and a neck to knee number so that it would hold the swim nappy on well and wouldn’t ride up sitting in the floatie seat.
We went to the Gould Adams Aquatic Centre, which is where Sarah’s Auntie ‘Cole does aqua classes. In summer they do Mum & Baby Aqua! Auntie ‘Cole came along to play photographer (after signing a 4 page privacy policy document…) and join in with Sarah’s first swim. Sarah’s friend Jessica came along to watch too. Poor Jess had to miss out of the swim though as she was just getting over some sniffles.
Sarah took to the water like a duck! She splashed and kicked and smiled like crazy at the people who swam past her. We were in the water for over nearly an hour and only got out when Sarah’s little toes were going all wrinkly.
It was a very exciting trip! So much so that Sarah fell asleep in her car seat before we even left the carpark, and didn’t even wake up when the car stopped again when we got home.
Sarah enjoyed the water so much that we are going to check out the local infant water classes and sign up :)
