I’m a big fan of the Japanese cooking show “Iron Chef”. Each episode begins with Chairman Kaga musing over the ingredient of the week – when exactly he first discovered it, its virtues and what secrets and advice he learned from its farmers. Yesterday was Sarah’s very first shopping trip to IKEA!! We bought her new cot there. She looks so tiny lying there in the middle of it! Jim also bought the big snake you can see dangling down from the bed above the cot. He ties it in a loose knot and Sarah lies back in the middle of it and watches the world go by :)

Here are some of the beautiful flowers we were given for Sarah. Have a close look at the ones on the right… a bouquet of special flowers made from 3 singlets, 2 bibs, a hat and a pair of socks!
Today, in what has been a week of many “firsts”, was Sarah’s first bath. In my anxious haste to get out of there as soon we possibly could – and after 3 days I was fairly climbing the walls – we’d missed the whole bath thingy at the hospital.
Auntie Cassie had come to visit and to lend an extra pair of hands – wet babies are very slippery little critters!
Sarah didn’t seem to mind the bath too much. She had rather a bemused expression on her face most of the time: “What is this wet stuff they are dunking me in?” Click on the photos below to see Sarah in the bath tub.
Over the next few days we had our first visits from family, friends and loved ones. For all the ‘first cuddle’ action, click on the photo of Sarah and her very proud Grandpa :)
Sarah Madison Victoria Gooch was born today at 13:53 at the Mater Mother’s Hospital in Brisbane. She weighed 3008g – 6lb 10oz – and was 49cm long. These photos were taken when she was just a few minutes old! Sarah was very quiet when she was born. She and Jim stared at each other for the longest time when they took her away to be measured.
